Remote start good or bad idea? 2010 F250 KR SD 6.4

I am thinking about putting on a remote start and wanted to get your thoughts if this is a good or bad idea? I have never done with a diesel before.
I would also like to know what kind if after market or ford is recommended? I do not want to cause issue later on with wiring problem. How are they to hook up on the newer vehicles? last one I did was on a 1984 so its been a while!
Thanks for you input and recommendations.

I would have to ask exactly how the start sequence works. If you can turn on the ignition only (without actually engaging the starter) then I think it would be great for spring through fall. But if it's a simple switch to turn the truck on and engage the starter immediately then you may have some issues in the winter because the glow plugs won't have enough time to get warm enough prior to engaging the starter.

That is one of my questions with the remote start and the glow plugs? does the remote start have a delay on the diesels?

Yes. Just make sure the one you get has a timer on it. I can change mine anywhere from 1 second to 60 seconds I think.

Ive got the Ford one and it has a delay for the diesel.

Actually its not as handy as it sounds unless you remember to crank the heater before you get out everytime.

Truck doesn't warm up much sitting there idling so your still got a cold truck to deal with anyway.

Here in Texas being able to leave the air conditioning on when you shut your truck off means that you can start your truck and give it a couple of minutes to cool off before you head for it. Means a big difference when the interior of your truck can hit in excess of 140 degrees sitting in the sun for just a little time.

Works great, I plug my truck in at night, have it set to start warming about 4 hours before I get up. I start the truck when I start putting my coat on, by the time I get out the door the high idle is just starting to kick in and the water temp is usually around 110 degrees, not bad for a 0 degree night.

Believe he meant the block heater is set to warm 4 hrs early, not the engine...

Sorry for the confusion but that is correct, block heater is on a timer, comes on at 1:00 am, off at 5:00 am, truck runs a minimal amount, couple of minutes tops.
Regen??? Whats that.
Now if I could only get the electric seat warmer to swith on with truck startup that would really be nice.

Mine is set to a 10 second delay and can be started from nearly a half mile away with feeback on the remote. I would go to a professional shop that is fully insured and gives you a written guarantee for the product and work...a lot can go wrong. I'm on my third unit.
