I'm going to attempt to document my latest build which is a 59 f100 style side that I just bought. I just got finished with a full frame off of a 53 f100 and gave it to my Dad so I figured since I am always building stuff for other people I should build myself something.
I found it scattered all over a guys back yard. I threw the cab and bed on the frame loaded it up , hauled it back to the shop, and now its just a frame. Here we go again.... Another quicke ends up a frame off
Very nice start! Good to see another one being saved.
BTW your work space appears to be way to clean and organized, not to mention just barely BIG enough.LOL
Looking forward to this build thread.
Next I hit the local scrap yard that I deal with and asked the owner if I could take the car to my shop to take the front end out. I told him I wanted to take it out myself just to make sure I got everything I need .He let me have it for $250. for the front end and the 4 rims and tires. I wanted the tires just for mock up.

Glad I just have it clamped in. I think I want to move the front end back about an inch. Thats it for now. I got to break it back down and get it ready for the No limit Fat bar 4 link and all the fab work to mount the CV
This is going to be a good build! I need to start my 59 Build thread.lol This whole crown vic swap seems popular.... Is there any way to make the suspension taller a little on CV suspension?

The CV will lower a stock truck no matter what. You can put spacers which are about 1 1/4" either under or on top of the frame depending how much drop you want.
I would say it would vary but in the ball park anywhere to 4" to 6 " than your stock vechile ride hight.
Of course tire choice whould make a difference as well.
I already have had a few stock 50"s trucks so I'm doing this one a little different but I'm not slamming it to the weeds either
How do you find the overall width is it good or too wide? Looking good.
D
The track width is tough to deal with if your hung up on using "steelies", want to keep your truck bolt pattern, have no intrest in custom or late model rims.
The CV track width is about 72" with its stock rims and tires. Some guys will use late model mustang wheels and use a 5x5.5 to 5x4.5 x 1" 1/4" spacer but it only brings the rear end to about 69.5" / 70". I used those spacers and the stock CV wheels to roll the truck around and take measurements. The rear end ended up being 69.5" with spacers installed and the inside of the tires cleared the box of the bed by about 3/8" on each side
The other option is to build your own which I am doing or source a 73 - 86 ford 9" wich is 4 " wider than the 59. If your lucky the later model f100 have a 5x4 1/2 bolt pattern but are tough to find So you may have to deal with swapping axles or redrilling the bolt pattern to match the CV.

Looks good! Definitely helps to have a good shop to work in!
Im real lucky. I have worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for the same construction company for over 20 years...
We have a great relationship and I get to use the garage like its my own.
Its funny sometimes the owners seem upset if I dont have a project going on becuase they love to come out and see what I'm doing and have even brought clienets out to show them all the stuff there mechanic does.
I think they also regonize that my hobby and love for building cars/ trucks/ and motorcyles makes be a better mechanic and fabricator becuase I treat there equipment the same as I treat my own stuff.
So I'm a little pissed half way through uploading new photos something happend and now I'm missing over half my photos..... Glad my new iphone is coming in a few days.... anyway I'll put up what I got
Here are some picts of the chassis sitting on my homemade chassis table.
