If you're electrically handicapped, buy a cruise control (and tilt) column, bolt it in and plug in the harness and POOF, cruise control added.

If you can wire something more than a couple fog lights, you can get just the harness and clock spring and steering wheel and add it to your column. But you won't get the tilt wheel.

Yes, it's that easy.
The ecu is capable of cruise as is. And the chassis harness is all wired, it's just missing the column wiring.

I know this is an old post but does this work from any year donor 99-2003 to use on a 99?

Just check the plug at the bottom of the column. It's a square plug all by itself on your truck. Not the round 4 pin one, that's for the idle/charge controller.
I'm pretty sure a tilt/cruise column is the same from 99-e03. None of the trucks have pats so the square plug should have the same number of pins. It should plug in and work.

What about the cruise control module I've been reading about in some posts? Apparently in the engine compartment ahead of the blower motor.

We are in the powerstroke section. The diesels are drive by wire and dont require the throttle actuator and other associated things.

You have over 25 posts, it would be helpful if you added a signature with truck details. That way I would have seen you potentially had a gas engine and I would have mentioned the extra stuff.
But if you have a psd, that extra stuff doesn't matter. But you still should have a signature.

Steering wheel and clock spring is on it's way. Looking forward to cruise on the long trips.
