I have a 1993 Ford F150 with a 302. The engine has headers, k&n filter, power pulleys, electric fans, and a 3in exhaust single with a glass pack. The question being does it matter if I have a catalitic conv. on or off. Like performance or sound. I have been running without a cat for about a year in a half but my Y pipe broke and I need to fix it so I have to decide. Cat or Not
If you are asking if a cat will effect sound and performance, the answer is yes. The cat is just about the same as a muffler in terms of sound deadening. It will also increase back pressure which reduces power. How much you ask? is hard to say.
