lifters started ticking!!
The lifters started ticking in my step dads 86 460 yesterday so we checked the oil and guess what, no oil we put 3 quarts back in her and it still there so my question is would it be better to go get the other engine(83 460 rebuilt 20K) or put new cam and lifters in it? What other things did we ruin besides lifters? Its all in a f-250 with a 4 speed 4x4. Thank you.

how many mile on the 86 if it is high I think I would do a swap You may not have actualy done any damage, the lifter(s) is stuck and may free up by runniing it(but keep the engine full of oil)

Well I guess it still has the tick but he said it might be ok for now. It has less than 100k I think. We'll see in a while if we need to replace it . It's had a pretty hard life but hey its a ford so what the hey. well thank you and take care . RUFUS79
