What makes a truck a SuperDuty? We bought a 2002 F250 this week, with the 7.3 PSD, 4x4, and I see it has a 12,500 tow rating. On the bed it says 4x4 Offroad.

What's diff between this truck and a Super Duty?
That truck is a super duty. If it's after 99 and a 250 or 350 it is a super duty.
Okay, thanks. this is our first trip in it, from Houston to Denver. Still learning about it. And so far, I love this truck.
Congrats. The 7.3 is old technology. But its reliable as all hell. The key to keeping it running is a good maintenance plan. Make sure you post up pictures.
This one also has a camper pkg listed on the paperwork. What does that include?
I gotta say I am liking everything about this truck, so far. It's got a few issues I need to sort out. Cruise control and trip computer are dead. Mirror 4-way switch is only 3 way. That kind of thing. I'm looking into some goodies for it. I don't know much about diesels, but I've rebuilt a lot of gasoline engines in trucks, cars, motorcycles and airplanes. I understand the basics. Plans include changing the front push bar for a heavier one with a receiver hitch in it, adding a locking tonneau cover, and an inverter so my wife can work on her computer while I drive.
Can anyone recommend a good inverter setup? I was thinking of just installing maybe a 500 watt under the seat or something like that. I don't like the little portable ones that plug into cigar lighter sockets.
Oh, and red is my least favorite color, but maybe it'll grow on me. The rest of it is great. Drives like a new truck.
a 500 watt inverter mounted under the passenger seat will be more than enough for a laptop.
for the inoperable cruise control, check to see if the cruise recall was done. there is a brake switch on the master cylinder that was under recall. if it leaks it will short out the wiring and burn the truck up. so a lot of people just unplugged the switch, disabling the cruise.
dead overhead trip computer is a standard too. there is a guy in florida that fixes them for around $100, or there is also tech threads on the internet showing you how to replace the resistors that burn out.
mirror could be a bad switch, or a burned out actuator in the mirror.
The camper package includes an overload spring on the rear pack that takes up the load of the drop in camper. It also gives you x code front springs which were standard on the plow package.
Thanks, that's a lot of help. I did find a thread about the overhead console, but it was about reseating ICs and not about burned resistors. I'm okay with a soldering iron at that level, so this is encouraging news.
Just noticed the horn doesn't work, either. Found a box of fuses in the glove compartment, so I'm starting to guess that there are a few electrical issues. From what you guys are telling me they're not serious.
I'm starting to check local junk yards looking for a replacement front grille guard, an aftermarket steel one with a square receiver hitch tube.
We just drove from Houston to Denver, and those electrical issues were the only failures. I do have some engine questions but I guess I should post those in the 7.3PSD forum.
The overhead panel gets hot from the sun, no insulation to protect the circuit board. A couple resister 'chips' desolder and usually hang down on one side and blank out the display.
I haVe some pics of my repair in my gallery, can't post a link from the phone.
