I save the link to the heater box set up and am looking into it as a alternate and cheaper route that the Mojave heater for my 71 Bronco...

I want to get a user report before I invest.

Heater came in and I made some progress as far as prep work goes. Here's the big hole left when I removed the heater box. If you know that you aren't going to use the box ever again and don't have it promised to someone, a sledge works just fine.

Next, you should save the main part to use as a template. Believe it or not, this probably took the most time to prep for use.

Next is the block-off plate which is 3/8" black ABS. This was simple, compared to the template. I like using ABS because of the grainy side. It always has a great finish.

Finally, new heater pics. The first is the heater and then, to put it in perspective, I added the CD (Second hand lions is a great movie, if you're wondering) so you can see how small this really is.

That's all for now. I will be taking some time off this month to address a few things in the truck. I'll keep you posted.

Haha. That's a funny one

Here some more progress for this week. I had to go from this

to this
This required some kind of fabrication so I plastic welded a blower manifold. I would hae welded the whole thing, but I had to make the end removable.

The other end is the defrost plenum. I made a plate with the hose attachment. This will be screwed into place.

The total blower package will look like this, except cut to length. If you are wondering, I purchased the 2.5 shop vac hose kit from Sears. Maradyne also sells an attachment kit, but I thought the Sears kit would work easier.

One final pic. This is for the fresh air vent on the side. Since I'm only a two window ventilation kind of guy, I blocked it off. I also took the time to replace the antenna since it was easy to reach through this port.

That's all for this week. Hopefully by next Monday, I will have the job done.

More accomplished today. I have the blower set in place now. Here's the blower ducted to the defrost section

Here's what the unit looks like from the passenger side. Of course, the wires will be cleaned up!

And now, here's where the heater hoses will hook up. A quick question, though. Should the hot water valve be on the supply or return side ofthe heater?

Next up will be the heater hose/valve set-up. Stay tuned

A little more progress made. I wanted to place the switch in a different place, but the PO had a few holes in the bottom of the dash, so I used those locations for the switch and the heater valve cable. Next up will be the finish with the new heater valve and the heater hoses installed. Stay tuned.

Do you have to keep the heater and blower and all that stuff in the truck of you want A/C? Mine isnt working right now and would love the extra room but I live in Florida need the A/C as well. It gets hott down here.

I think rebuilding your stock set-up will be the best way to go since you want to keep your AC. With my set-up, I was able to remove everything, including the heater/AC controls for a cleaner look.

Any update on your install?

I have a couple of questions please...

1)I note the company has blower manifolds and Im wondering why you didnt go with theirs?

2) How is the output compared to the stock or hi output ford heater

3) I left my defrost vent tubes in place with the thought i could use them... just need to fab and adapter from square to hose...

4) How do you change from heater to defrost.. or do they all run all the time..and do you have the ability to modulate where the heat goes

Thank you

Sorry for the late reply. Post was out of sight, out of mind.

I have a lot of plastic around the house from other work projects. Plus, I can make the plenum to suit my exact needs.

So far, no complaints. The CFM is there.

3) I left my defrost vent tubes in place with the thought i could use them... just need to fab and adapter from square to hose...

So did I. Made a plastic plate to adapt to the hose.

It's set up for defrost only, right now. I will be looking to make either a 70/30 defrost/heater split or a butterfly heater valve.

Thank you
