A few months ago I rescued a 1979 Ford F150 from a field in Rexford. I'm hoping to return it to service but it needs a lot of work. It hasn't been run in at least 10 years so the first thing I need to do is determine the best way to do that without doing any harm to the engine. Any thoughts? If I can get it running, I'm prepared to do body work. New floors cab and bed.
welcome, joe. don't i know you from somewhere? there should be plenty of threads here on waking up an engine. you may need a certain number of posts to be able to use the search. i'll see if i can do a search and link it on the thread fro you to read. dick r.
Thanks Dick, I need five posts to open more privileges. I've been looking around the site and as you probably know there's a learning curve. I'm surprised at the number of responses I've received already from my first posts.
if/when you are able to search, click on search, then click on advanced search. that way you can specify searching "title only" or "entire threads". if you don't do title only, you will get a million hits, one for every place your word appears in the thread. don't know how active the group is for your year truck. the '48-'56 group is very active with a large group of knowledgeable guys. if you find a topic that doesn't get much resp on your forum, try the '48-'56. this place can give you a winter's worth of fun reading. dick r.
