After reading this forum I decided to get my coolant flushed on my 2005 F250 Power Stroke. The ticket says "Complete Coolant Fluid Exchange"
They show one 1161 (Rad. KIT) for $29.92 Two VC7B antifreeze for $33.42 and $71.03 labor.
The problem I have is that from reading this forum all they did was drain the pet **** or lower hose and fill it back up. In fact they only used a touch over 1 1/2 gallons of antifreeze.
Was this misrepresented or is this what you expect from dealers and normal practice?
The cooling system holds 27.5 quarts. It takes 3.5 gallons of concentrate to get a 50/50 mix IF they correctly flushed the system (and it sounds like they didn't).
As far as being a TYPICAL dealer, that's highly debatable.

Do you think the labor they charged is in line with what they did ?

Sounds like they charged you for about 1/2 or 3/4 hr. labor so that's about right. If it was my truck I'd be looking for another dealer to service it because theirs is poor. A REAL cooling system flush takes a while to do properly and could be pretty dang expensive from a dealership.
No Thermostat change out?, I would learn to flush your own truck, Or look in the Chapters section for your area for Reputible Shops. The chapters go up to the Forums button click find chapters click and look for the city or chapter near you In there will be some good shops to choose from , we can help you here to or look in the Tech folders theres a really good write up about everything you need to know.

I will probably do it myself. I had the transmission serviced and the fuel filter changed at the same time or I likely would have to start with. Hard to do those without a lift and not take a bath.
Fuel filters aren't that hard to do just have a few rags up in the rail to keep the fuel from hitting the arm pits, after you do a few you will learn to be Just a ( little Quicker). What kind of water sep plug did you get ? OEM Fumoto
I can't speak for every dealership, but I would say very few would do a thorough flush like most 6.0's need because they only pay on average 1 hour to do a coolant flush. And, not many customers would want to pay $400-500 to do it properly.
The way I do them is drain, flush with tap water, drain again and fill with coolant and distilled water.
I don't see why you can't just do the drain and fill once a year as long as you use the same type coolant/ anti freeze . Even though you are not getting all of it on average it should stay in good shape.

If you are not preparing to replace your oil cooler, or you are not changing coolant types, you can do just that.....drain & refill.
The reason for a flush is to get all debris out, and have everything clean prior to replacing an oil cooler..... or changing to a coolant that is incompatible with the original coolant. (Although I plan to flush mine every couple of years....but that's me)
Did you ask for a coolant flush with vc9 to be done by a diesel tech? You got what you would get anywhere you went, as we called the spill and fill. What you want is going tun about $600 in parts and labor

I did specifically ask for a flush. What they did pretty much anybody with an IQ in double figures can do.
But, it may well be what they consider a flush. The ticket does say complete coolant fluid exchange, operative word being complete. A little misleading.
