97 expedition help with stall

Quick question what would cause the engine to stall from a stop if you release brake and barely touch gas? Its fine if you stay on break or hiy gas to go

The diaphragm inside the brake booster could've ruptured. This would cause a change in vacuum as the brakes are applied and released.

Is there any way to test this or do I just replace the booster?

you can unhook the vacuum hose with the engine off, attach a had Vacuum pump try and pull a vacuum on it, If it will not hold it, it may have a hole in it, Another option is to remove the main hose from the booster right after shutting the engine down say within 15 seconds, if the booster has no holes in it you should hear the pressure adjust, if it has hole there wont be any pressure

Just disconnect the vacuum hose from the booster and plug it nice and tight (engine off.) Then start the engine and see if the stalling problem is gone as you press and release the brakes. If the problem is gone then replace the booster.
