I was reading a post a few days ago that said Ford is making a SVT Focus that is suppose to keep up with a Z06. Now personally I thought the guy was yanking my chain. Can anybody else back this up???
There have been some wild Focus's already made. Some have stuffed V8's in 'em and Ford made a special one awhile back. Something like 300+ horsepower. I'm thinking maybe two years ago??
They might be able to beat a Vette in 0 to 60 but they have a very big hill to climb to meet the all day comfort the Vette has for touring.
It is probably possible. Have you ever watched World Rally Cup racing? The Ford Focus is doing quite well this season. The one they race is all wheel drive (I think that is available only in europe) and has plenty of power. My guess is 300+ HP.
I have read of people putting small blocks and even modular V8's in focus's (foci?), and they said that the stock exhaust route is perfect for the driveshaft and transmission..... kinda makes you wonder....
Perhaps you are missunderstanding some of the responses. It is possible that Ford SVT could (and may be) build a Focus that would keep up with a Vett. Is it likely to ever be a "production" car? No. Ford has lots of money and if they want to build a one off vette killer, they could.
You really should watch the rally racing. The Focus is very impressive, very fast. It NOT a production model however.
well....My brother has a 81' Vette and he got beat by a Focus. He runs 12's. :/ and I know a guy with a 91' and hew gets sucked up all the time so he cheats and uses Nitrous...
there must have been something wrong with that vette or the focus had nos and i should have not said any vette what i should have said was the newer ones 96 up
it was either car and driver or motor trend that did the comparison of the corvette z06 and the focus svt. the focus did not "beat " the corvette but got higher marks in the handling dept and was within about a tenth of a second in the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times.it has not been in production yet but ford is considering it. even the price of the focus svt was considerably less than the vette. so all you chebbie boys better watch out, there might be a focus out there waitin for ya someday!!!!
even if there is a focus that will beat a vette i would still pick the vette any day over the focus i want raw v8 horsepower i am finished with 4 bangers i mean how many chicks are going to stare at a focus the only thing good about that is that you can haul more of those chicks in the focus as apposed to the 2 seater vette. i am a ford guy but when it comes to the vette i stand by it but in part because i really hate focuses

That's why I drive a truck, just think of how many of 'em I can put in back!
Really although I like fords, I cant stand the looks of the Focus. It just doesnt look like a car that's supposed to go fast, IMO. It turns into a good "rice boy" car, though, with the addition of the big ol' spoiler on the top back. But if it beats a chibby, and it's a ford, then good.
where did you find the shift kit for the c6 i have a c4 that i am almost sure i want to use it only cost 38 dollars at o rielly's for a b&m shift kit it is either a c4 or a c5 but according to the article on this site a c5 has a bulge on the pan and a c4 is flat and the transmission i have is flat i know this is off the subject but i need to know
