I have been working on this 302 for a month or so getting it prepped to go into my truck, well..as time grows close I am still confused on some things.
First, there are three wires coming out of the distributor...these were not on my '65 so what do I do w/ them?
Second, in a bundle of wires were three I am unsure of. two w/ clips on the ends and one w/ like a 90 degree female plug. Where would these go?
Third, is it possible to convert back to manual choke from the electric? ANd what is involved?
Thanks for the reply, I kinda thought that was for electronic ignition. How do I convert back to points? Just a new distributor? And the female 90's I think u are right on those once I looked at it. As for the choke, the engine is going in a '65 truck which already had a manual choke and such, should that just be a bolt up thing w/ the old junk? Thanks again!
You will need a 74-earlier 289/302 distributor to change back to points. The 300 choke parts probably wont fit a v8 carb. Choke parts from a sixties v8 will fit the 78 carb.
Thanks for that reply. I guess I'll be lookin' into a new distributor. As for the choke, would it be bad to leave the electric choke on it or do I have to run wires for that too? If I do then i'll be heading to the junk yard for parts. Thanks again!
