Thinking I'd make up some of those thin plastic shims to use instead of the actual MOLLE straps/snaps...say two of them with a section of 550 cord between them. Need to take one of the pouches with you? Pull the cord connecting the two, the shims slip out and the pouch is now free of the panel.

Got the last Coyote Brown model (14" x 22") from Blue Ridge Overland Gear...was hoping to get two of them - guess I'll have to wait until later in the year when they get another batch made.
Looking at this one for the rear passenger side door:
Should leave me with maybe 1/4" or so between the outside of the panel and the plastic border of the door panel (about 1/4" or so of carpet will show).
Now just need to find one that can attach to the driver side door...that one is a bit wider than the passenger side door.

"MOLLE" stands for Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment...it's what you see on military plate carriers, tactical vests, etc. The back of the pouches you see on those vests (usually rifle/handgun magazines, etc.) have the same pattern of webbing, and they attach by threading ever platic tabs or more webbing between them.
On both my Expedition and my Excursion I've put stuff in the "seat pocket" and on both those pockets have stretched out and become useless...plus you can't really put a lot of stuff in those to begin with.
This lets you put whatever size pouch you want (and they make thousands of combinations of sizes) where ever you want and it won't stretch out or go out of shape.
...so one will be a first aid kit that has a Velcro mount...the velcro "base" will mount on this seat back panel, then the bag will go on the Velcro. Stopped at an accident? Pull the bag and it pops right off. I'll probably put a small one for a hand help GPS, another for the tire pressure gauge, etc. etc. Jeep owners are all over these...putting them on their tail gates to hold jumper cables, tools, etc.
Some folks might not carry much loose stuff in their trucks...I volunteer for our local FD and carry a LOT of loose stuff, so this works great for me.
