I have a 97 F-150 4X4 with the 4.6L V8 with the automatic. It has auto locking hubs on the front. Here's my problem it shifts into 4WD high range just fine but when I stop to go into 4LO if I don't pull the heck outta the lever all at one time it will get stuck in neutral and when I try to move the lever back into 4LO or 4high it grinds like hell.Same thing happens when I go from 4LO into high range. The thing I've done to fix it is shut the motor off and pop back into 4high but I'm scared it might break something.
I was told at the dealership to put the tranny in neutral when shifting the t-case.
But anyone know any tricks to make it shift easy and not get stuck in neutral???
And its embarrsing when a friend is riding and my junk locks up on me!
