Hi,need some help.My 48 f1 flathead 226 has water dripping out of exhaust when revving engine.Already changed head gasket, copper one ,milled head ,magnafluxed head no cracks ,no thermostat installed. Was pushing out overflow tube now its not. Happens everytime it is run hot or cold small puddle on floor, droplets on acceleration, some smoke, block looked good no visible cracks ,Need your input please
Do you smell "cooked" antifreeze? Does the "water" coming out glow when you shine a black light on it? Condensation can be troubling, try to determine if it is actually coolant or condensation.
Install a thermostat and a coolant mix, drive the truck at road speed after it gets to normal operating temperature. Drive the truck long enough for the exhaust system to dry out. A bit of moisture out the exhaust is normal on a cold start.
IT does not smell of antifreeze out exhaust,I have a thermostat with holes in it,I have put 150 miles on truck since install of head gasket, looks like steam out exhaust, its more than a bit of moisture I started it 3x today and drove it 10-15 miles each time, every time I started it small puddle out exhaust on floor even when warm?
I have added 1/2 gallon of water in one day after 50 miles I don't understand this, feels like loss of power in high gear. What about water pump can it be bad and not circulating properly, theres a little play in fan no leaks
If not loosing coolant , likely just steam from combustion . My 53 will leave a puddle when I start her and let her run in the garage( not heated ) when it is cold . A proper thermostat will help . But even with a proper thermostat my 53 ( Pontiac ) straight 8 makes a puddle out the tail pipe .

1/2 gallon = 2 quarts ... Are you over filling the radiator ?
Not a good idea to post the same question in two places...
1. What are your compression values?
2. Are any of your plugs unusually clean? A cylinder pumping water will be scoured clean.
3. Does it do this if you leave the radiator cap off?
4. Did the cold weather come before your long trip, and you turned on the heater for the trip?
Sorry about posting in 2 places, seen a thread in another place,my mistake. There is no heater in truck, heater hoses are run back to engine, need to do compression test, plugs 3-4 were white that's why I changed head gasket, need to check plugs again,What should I look for with the cap off,I am filling radiator just to fins in neck, water pump starting to make a slight noise,Thanks sorry for double post
With no cap on (or on loosely), there should be no cooling system pressure. Not many cracks will leak water with no pressure, depending where the crack is. If it's in a cylinder bore, it still might, but at a lower rate. You can watch for bubbles with the cap off too.
I agree with above, tho, until the engine is fully warmed up, and the exhaust system warmed up, you're going to be getting condensation from the exhaust. I see you're in NY, I presume it's pretty cold there now? It could take 15 minutes driving to get all of it out. (You should put your location in your Profile, in UserCP)

Albuq F-1 read my mind... also what is the pressure of your radiator cap?

If you have drilled an extra bypass hole in the thermostat, you may enough coolant bypassing the thermal part of the thermostat to where it is ineffective.
Ray is right, ALL thermostats for our vehicles have provisions built in to bleed air thru them. If you hold them up to the light you'll see the edges of the sealing disc are wavy or scalloped to bleed a small amount of air/water thru.
