I would pass on all three and save your money until you can buy a truck that you want.
If low wages and benefits are the American way then you are correct.
You're missing the fundamental point - it is un-American to force or coerce anyone to join a union and pay dues simply because of the job for which they are hired. That limits/restricts choice and freedom to decide with whom you associate.
The end does not justify the means.
.. and benefits are "extras". Benefits do not and should not constitute an entitlement.
Yes the 76 2wd and the 76 4wd are both short beds. The easiest way to tell in a photo is count the stake pockets. Short beds have 2 on each bedside and long beds have 3 on each side. Also if you look closely at the distance from the cab corner to the rear wheel, you will notice that the distance in much shorter then the distance of the same 2 points on the 79 truck. I hope this helps in your decision.
Here's a nice truck at a fair price for up here in Washington, $1300 with a 460, auto and no rust
Wow, incredible! You would never find a deal like that here in NC! The previous owner of the 75 4x4 (other post, the one decal-ed like Richard Petty) lived in Washington state and said he only got $1400 for his truck.
btw, how can a truck that old have no rust? You all live in a cool, moist climate. Garage kept?

Back to our regulary scheduled programming....
yeah, i remember working for Kroger in Kentucky back in 1980. Made 3.35 an hour, min. wage. Kroger in the great state of Kentucky was a closed shop - you had no choice to join the union. Refuse, and you were let go after 90 days. So, I would work about 15 hours a week. So say I brough home about $40 a week. the first week of every month, they pulled out union dues - $15!! Those dues didn't help part time folks one bit! I got nothing out of the 'dues' in the two years I was working there. I saw full time guys working in the meat dept. and produce section basically sand-bagging and lazy assing all day. Some of those guys made $30 an hour. I'm not challenging that part. But I do challenge the value system that a union instills. I say un-American...
Stromburg that is a sweet looking truck. Nice score. Around here trucks like that in that condition would bring about 3-5k. If it were a 4x4 it would be about 6-9k. So that is why I always say the value always depends on what area's you are looking in.

Sorry to here that in my union we have 2 sets of dues we have our monthly dues $30 and our working dues of 1% of our check. I gladly pay them. working none union in the same field I made a $43 an hour "package" now I make $78 an hour "package" . Most guys in my field are not lazy we work hard and are well payed for it. I was a real big non union guy for the longest time and thought the same that they were lazy but not anymore.

It's tempting but I am not in the market at the moment, it just popped up on my local off road forum, trust me there are plenty of sellers that think they're trucks are gold around here but dents are plentiful in the NW
My cousin in KY was an air traffic controller back when Reagan fired them all. Actually, he bitterly disagreed with the union's position back then. Reagan's position was that a work walkout that jeapordized the safety of Americans was unacceptable. Striking auto workers is one thing but striking air traffic controllers is in a different league.
God Bless Ronald Reagan! I met the man, I was named after him (Reagan is my first name), and we need to get rid of the bum in office now and put another REAGAN in g
