Don't do it, Jim. Four-wheeling on sand isn't a new concept, so if chains worked, they'd be used and recommended.
Chains do not make a tire into a paddle tire.

I think chains are about the last thing you'd want to put on. There's no solid bottom on a sand dune, so "digging" is only going to bury you quicker. The idea is to float over the top as much as possible. Even with paddle tires, the basic tire is a "balloon" tire designed to run low pressure and distribute weight. The paddles are just there to give a little something to push against, not to dig into the sand.
Also, if you get your wheels spinning at a high RPM and those chains happen to come off, it's gonna do some damage

That second vid showed them digging down, just like Steve suggested would happen. And that "sand" is more like compacted pulverized rock. I don't think (based on what I see in the vid) that it's anything remotely similar to the type of conditions found at Pismo or Glamis.
However, I would gladly take pics and vids of anyone that wanted to try it!
