I want to pull out the manual A/C controller in a 2004 Ford Expedition XLT sport and put in a Dual Electronic Temperature A/C controller. Has anyone else done this and tell me what I need to do the same? Truck is great and I'm keeping it till the wheels fall off!
I don't know if you can or not, but it would not surprise me that you could IF you had the software programmer/scanner that the dealer has.
For example cruise control; If your vehicle does not have cruise and you want it, starting in a certain year(I forget which one) all you have to do is buy the steering wheel with the buttons, swap it in along with the airbag, and that's all you have to do. Then run down to the dealer and pay them to activate the cruise feature. I believe all the vehicles that are throttle-by-wire are like this.
So I really don't know the answer to your question, but keep asking/searching. You might go to the dealer and ask them.
No you cant. DATC not only requires extensive wiring changes, but a new smart junction box, interior temperture sensor, exterior temp sensor, sunload sensors, multiple blend door actuators EATC specific, and a completely different evaporator/heater plenum with separate air boxes for each side of the vehicle. Far more expensive design and far more expensive to maintain as well.
