V10 here with 10mpg in town and 10.1 towing the TT... 13 combined and 15-17 highway by itself. These are ballpark numbers, not recorded or all that scientific, but pretty close....

16 and 17mpg is a fantasy. No way real world.

I mean unless you drive at exactly 52mph on flat roads with no stop signs for a couple hours.

The best I've gotten with mine (2007 E350 V10) is high 13's/low 14's and that was with non ethanol gas, and long trips averaging 50-60mph.

I have touched 15 mpg before on a 400 mile road trip with my 2002 4x4 3.73, but it was a one time thing. That was speeds of 65-73 mph.

I think a 2wd 3.73 truck could possibly hit 16 given the right conditions.

I get 10mpg loaded or unloaded... Doesn't matter. Who cares about fuel mileage when ya drive a super duty?

My 99 got around 12 normal driving and 9-10 towing. I think I have 4:10LS but might be 4:30LS. I have to look.
I changed the engine to a 2001. I'll be interested to see what difference it makes. I'll let you know after a tank.

My 99 super cab 4x4 with 4:30's touched 13 a few times but my 2007 CC 4x4 with the same gears has never seen 13's.

Hopefully just a morning laugh, just thinking out loud and usually when I get in trouble!!!

Isn’t this an oxymoron…?

None of these words belong in the same sentence - fuel economy and V10 and we are from the government and we are here to help you!!!!

2000 Ex V10 with 4.30’s, stock size Michelin LTX, 5 Star performance tune, running Colorado crappy oxygenated and low octane blended fuels.

If I keep my foot out of it I can get 12.5MPG mostly hi-way. Usually 12.2ish or so. So no real benefit to keeping my foot out of it. I put the 33’ 8000 lb. trailer on the back I can get 9.5 Downhill and 7.5 to 8.0 going uphill by the lie-o-meter.

Almost like you can actually watch the gas guage go down. But I sure like my 4.30’.

I was getting roughly 15-16 on a bone stock '01 with a fresh tune up on the highway. Truck is 4x4 but has the 3.73 gear.
Traffic was light and I was running about 70-73 mph.

It's only gone downhill since with 35s, no idea how far, not going to check, don't really care.

I filled up in Denver last month with me, my wife, both my parents and my mother in law and we cruised up I70 and then took a right up CO 40, over Berthoud Pass into Winter park. We ran around Winter Park for a couple of days. When we filled up to come back over the pass to Denver, I hand calculated 12.9. I was happy with that considering Berthoud Pass peaks at 11400 feet and it is a pretty hard climb and ALOT of switchbacks. That was the beginning of September.

My wife and I are going out to California in December. Hoping to get around 14-15 on the trip.

Then I must have gone through the Looking Glass a long time ago. Never say something so definitive

Real-world. 3.73 gears, Supercab, short-bed, with an ARE cab-height cap on the back, about 1000lbs in the bed, and four passengers.

Tires at perfect inflation for wear.

Mods at the time: eBay headers, y-pipe, Volant intake, nothing else. (These mods did nothing to help or hurt the mileage).

Hand-calculated mileage.

Multiple trips from Long Island into Upstate NY - with no stop-and-go traffic, 99% highway at 65-70MPH.

17.1 - over about two years, 6 trips in total. Once, I got around 16.6, but the traffic was bad for about 20 minutes.

Other times, before those mods, I regularly got 16+MPGs on the highway, going from Long Island into Rochester in Upstate NY, again, at times when there was no traffic. I took that route alone, with no load, but I was doing 75-80 all the way. That trip I made at least 8 times in the space of 6 months for work.

So never ever say it can't be done with a V10

'06 F250 FX4 with 20's and 35's x 12.5 and 4.10 V10 CrewCab Lariat

9-10 around town

11-12 on Interstate @ 70mph, 10-11 @ 75mph

9-10 Towing a 2 horse trailer and a 1000lb horse (approx. 4000lbs - Bumper Pull) 70mph or under on Interstate with moderate hills.

7.5-8mpg towing the same but at 75mph

But really MPG is not why I own an F250. If I was worried about that, I wouldn't have a SuperDuty.
