VIN decode

I just purchased a 78 Bronco and need help deciphering the VIN. The VIN is: U15HLBE9809. Any assistance is appreciated.

VIN decode

U15HLBE9809

U15= Bronco (U150 Wagon)4x4

H= 351M engine

L= Built at Michigan Truck Plant

BE 9809 = Consecutive build number = January 1978 (I would guess January 30th)

I was told "H" was for Windsor. What's up?

It depends on the year. From '77 from '79 H did refer to the 351M. It didn't mean 351W until '84.
