Bought a friends 95 f 350 7.3 powerstroke with an E4OD.truck just quit driving.none of the gears work,I tried 1st and 2 manually nothing works.the fluid is full ,red and doesn't smell burnt.the od light works but is not blinking a code.any ideas where to look for the problem?selonoid pack.maybe the valve body? Thanks
Safe to assume that applies to reverse too? didn't actually say but sounds like it....
Drop the pan, verify the shift linkage didn't fall apart, in other words verify moving the shift lever moves the gear selector down at the trans both externally and internally, and see if find any "spare pieces parts" laying in it large or small.
Also make sure the filter didn't fall off, and if not that it isn't clogged.
There is more but first must check it out look for any obvious reason.
Oh and if its a 4x4 make sure its not a simple as the TC just isn't in gear or other issue with it as in not the trans.
With this tranny, I just got finished having issues and all it was, was the connectors needed cleaning but the mlps on the side was going out. So, once I got the connectors cleaned I never had another issue with it except one. I found this problem out the hard way when I parked in the back yard which is hilly and went in the garage through the side door with the garage door still closed. It scared the crap out of me when it decided to roll into the garage door. Start by cleaning the connectors, check for codes and take a good look at the linkage on the side of the transmission on the driver's side to ensure it's working properly.
