High guys, I just picked up a 351 EFI engine and zf 5 speed for 225 bucks. It will probably be going into my jeep cj that I am just starting to work on. Can you guys give me the specs on these engines, and what it takes to convert them over to mass air. Also, when did they start getting roller cams? Any info on these motors would be great. I know alot about the 5.0 mustang motors, but not the 5.8's.
Roller started 94 I think
Put a mustang style intake on it, and use mustang fuel injection and it will be great.
Heads interchange with a 5liter except it has 1/2" head bolts instead of 7/16.
Everything 5liter will work except the 302 intake and oil pan.
For power, I believe at their peak they made 210hp and 325lb-ft of torque. MAF is not for the faint of heart. You can either get all the MAF intake setup and meter from a truck as well as the wiring harness and appropriate EEC and swap the whole engine bay harness, or r you can get all the MAF intake parts including meter, an overlay injector and MAF meter harness and an appropriate EEC. The overlay harness requires repinning of the EEC connector. For the EEC you can use the popular manual trans Mustang EEC's since you are running a ZF5.
I guess I should have clarified a little more. I am after the specs as far as what year roller cams came out, what the pistons are made of, cranks, rods, different HP years, etc. I know about the rest of the mass air and parts interchangeability of the 5.0/5.8. I plan on running a 89-93 mustang harness and pcm.
I am not sure of the year, it is out of the truck. I know it is a EFI but that's about it so far.
