Okay I'm planning my build on my 7.3 and I was going to run an s366. What's the low down no bs straight facts! Yes, no, maybe or stay the hell away?
Couple guys here running them and they like them. It will depend on your injectors and power goal but with stage 1/2's the S366 seems to be the popular way to go.
X2 if you want to use hybrids go with a s400 frame. Or you could wastgate the s366. What are you hp goals? What other mods do you plan on doing? Studs, springs, rods should be on that list.
What good will that do on a diesel?
S366, as others have said is a bit too small for 238's. Keep in mind that the 66 part means 66mm compressor inducer, which is the same as the stock turbo. The big benefit of the S366 is it's a more durable turbo, and more efficient. Getting an S400 frame turbo in an OBS takes a bit of finessing the firewall, just so you know.
Well the bov would stop it from surging witch will destroy those turbos, and if It the 238s and s366 turbo are running at 550 hp I don't understand how it's to small.

Correction for you. Stock inducer diameter is 59.87mm IIRC. Just under 60mm anyways..
The S366 cannot flow the exhaust required to live at that level. Backpressure will be high and eventually kill the journal bearings. You can run it if you want to, but an external wastegate is a must if you want it to survive.
IMO, I would step up to an S466 or S467 (some call it the S468, same turbo).. I would decide on the exhaust housing size depending on the transmission. If it's an auto, I would do a 1.10 T4 and if it's a manual I would go to the 1.0 housing and possibly drop down to the .90 if it needs to spool quicker and backpressure is in check.

No, it won't actually. A BOV is used in GAS applications. What you are trying to talk about is a wastegate, which still isn't going to be enough for that turbo with those injectors. You might want to slow down and read up a bunch more before you charge ahead with this build if you hope to have it stay in one piece.

Shut up Travis... you're right, I had D66 in my brain but said stock because... well because I'm dumb At least we agree that it's too dang small for the OP's intended plan!
