I have an 85 ford f150 and i plan on doing the duraspark 11 swap along with non feedback carb. I can't afford to do it all at once so i was wondering if a non feedback carb would work with the distributor thats on it for now? And also would a 2 barrel carb be a good upgrade? Thank you.
The only way a different carb, either 2bbl or 4bbl, would be advantageous only if you change out the intake manifold. I wouldn't change out the feedback carb until I changed out the dizzy and ignition module to DS-II. And if it ran fine with the present carb then I wouldn't worry about it.

Your truck will be functional with a conventional carburetor on your stock distributor, but the computer-controlled TFI distributor will not advance the timing without the original feedback carburetor in place. Performance and economy will suffer, but you can drive it like that until you are able to replace the distributor.

A 2-barrel carburetor would be an upgrade for performance, but not for economy. For even better performance, the Offenhauser intake and 390 Holley 4-barrel carburetor is a very popular choice for the 300.
I'm sorry, but I have no clue what you are talking about. DuraSpark II is a system made up of a distributor, a coil, and an ignition module. So, to say "wire the dsll direct" begs the question of what are you wiring it to, and why? The dizzy wires to the module, and the module wires to power.
I'm having a hard time finding the wiring harness for the distributor. My local junk yard doesn't have one, does anyone know of an after market company that sells pre made harnesses for a DSll system?
Go to the November Junkyard Wish List and tell people you are looking for one. Many go to salvages and, while there, are willing to pick things up for others.
