Sewing Machines
SWMBO has expressed an interest in a new sewing machine, something which I know nothing about. Except that hers is over 35 years old and seems to work fine if I keep it lubed, but that doesn't really matter, does it? I suppose they may have new fangled features that she would enjoy.
So I ask the joint intelligence here, who makes a solid machine these days? Got a favorite model? It's okay with me if you ask your wives.

My wife owns 4 machines in total. They are all very reliable so I wouldn't worry so much about mechanical quality.
The last machine that I bought her was a Singer Serger machine.
You hook it to a laptop and it can do thousands of cool things such as write names, stitch patterns on a quilt, etc. Or, it can sew regularly.
Your bride may impressed with your sewing machine acumen if you had something like that under the tree.

My mom went thru this over the summer.
I have to agree that most likely you will not find anything near the quality these days, of what you have. After she tried 3 different machines, I ended up having to fix her old Singer sewing machine. Which btw is the worst thing I've ever had to work on.
