I can do that, may even camp out the night before. Hopefully it will not be freezing. Or just spend the night in Indio, and head out there early in the morning.

I would recommend we start at the I-15 end and go up. The organizer can call that of course. Also, there isn't much parking or staging area at the I-15 end, but there is a McDonalds at the next offramp north, which is the hwy 138 exit. We could meet there and then head back to the trail as a group.

I'm pretty sure you need an Adventure Pass on the trail.

Huge parking lot at that McDonalds, it would be a good place to meet up.

That sounds good.

Yes an adventure pads is required. One per vehicle. They are $5 at any ranger station.

I have an adventure pass that is good for a year, so I am good. This will be the second time using it, so I better get cracking, and schedule four more trips somewhere to break even on the cost. LOL

Good thing you said most Big 5 stores, because I already know the one here in Fresno does NOT sell them, and neither does Dick's Sporting Goods. I bought mine at a ranger station near Ballingers.

Both Big 5's and Sport Chalet in Bakersfield DO, however.

Fresno is just too far away from the San Bernardino National Forest, I guess.

However, no matter where you plan to buy it, ALWAYS call ahead to see if they currently have them in stock! They sometimes run out.
