Just found a source in central California for old pickup parts. While driving on hwy. 58 in Bakersfield a couple of weeks ago I happened to pass by an old wrecking yard. I have seen this place for years but never stopped by. (Duh!)
As many parts that I have needed for my '52 F1. Any way I finally pulled off the freeway the other day and drove by. A sign on the fence said "The pickup man" and listed a phone number. I called the number and asked him if he had any 52 F1s. He had a couple and we made arrangements to meet at this yard the next weekend. Sure enough he had two and one of them had a good cab which he said he wanted $500 for complete with instruments, doors and tank. I gave him a hundred dollars to hold it and said I would be back in a couple of weeks with a trailer. These trucks are packed in there with only enough room to walk by and this 52 was several rows back. I'm sure it will take him awhile to get the thing out.
Any way, PM me and I will give you his phone number.
That's an awesome price. I live in Palmdale so I don't get out that way too often but good to know. Happen to notice if he has any rear fenders for the 48-52 series? Been looking for a driver side for a long time.
Yes I have seen at least one 53-56 in the yard. Someone has cootie-bobbed the grill but I think it's a 56. As far as the fenders go, he has a bed W/fenders sitting outside of the fence. I think it may be an F3 bed.
