Can anyone confirm or deny whether or not its bad to shift without the clutch on these? I've read around quite a bit but can't seem to find a for sure answer. I drive semi's for a living and understand there is a total difference in straight cut gears and a tranny with syncros on it. I caught myself accidently doing it out of habit the other day in the 7.3 and was just wondering if it is detrimental to the tranny/syncros on a Stroke? I can go 1-OD and OD back down to 1 without grinding but not something I want to get in a habit of if something else is taking up the slack in there?
Up to od AND back down with NO clutch....you ARE the man!!! I could when i had a stick sometimes..some vehicles better than others..if its not grinding..im of the opinion it is better than wearing the clutch for so many shifts.at least thats what my dad always said.
I am of the opinion the others have stated . If it ain't grinding , no harm . I actually do the same in my old kia at times . 150k and some change , factory clutch ( despite my wife's driving ) and no problems yet .
If it doesn't grind when shift and you are not forcing it into gear, then you are hurting NOTHING. I put over 150k on my 2000 with ONLY using the clutch to take off from a stop. Never used the clutch again
