Just picked up a 2005 Ex. Has 193k. 6.0 4x4. Runs like a clock, the owner had just dumped thousands on preventive maintenance, preciate it. Performance wise I would like to put a AFE 4" with an intake of some sort and a custome tune on SCT.
I was really looking for a diesel F250 to tow my car to the race track, but I came across this Ex for 11.5k, so I couldn't pass it up. I figured I might as well have the best of both worlds. Fast car and a lifted vehicle, which brings me here since I have no experience with trucks. Pretty much made up my mind on what I want to have done. 8" lift on 37's with 20 wheel. Figured a 20 wheel wouldn't have as much side wall so its better for towing.
As far as brands Ive been looking at Zone Offroad, BDS, Rough Country, Pro Comp etc. Zone off road seems to be the cheapest next to Rough Country. Im not really looking to do any sweet jumps or extreme off roading. Mainly highway cruising/towing with occasionally taking it to the trails and crossing shallow creeks. As far as tires Im leaning towards the Falken Wild Peak A/T 355/60/20. Im really liking these rims but I'm not sure if Ill have rubbing issues considering their backspacing, 20x10 Gear 726 Chrome 726C-2108719 Any suggestions on what I might want to change up?
Those wheels should work. They have about 4.25 inches of backspacing. As far as lifts go, only aftermarket lift I've ever used is Rough Country. Every thing else, I've always pieced together.

Not sure what you're running, but consensus seems to be the stock air box is pretty good unless you plan on going north of 450 hp. The filtration is better too compared to the aftermarket filters. Hopefully previous owner gave you a new oil cooler and EGR cooler (or delete). I have my custom tunes running through an SCT Livewire TS and love it for the gauges and ease of use.
Thanks for the friendly welcome Im located in san antonio to who asked. It came with a egr delete already and still has stock air box. Perhaps ill just put a k&n drop in filter. Whats the issue with the oil cooler? I'll post some pics when I get back in town from work. I spent $400 on a full detail lol. Thats pretty much what I was expecting to spend on wash, clay bar, buffing, wax, interior and engine detail.

Ah you have a good amount of fellow FTE'rs nearby then.
Leave that stock filter in, the K&N doesn't play too well on the 6.0 as it lets dirt past the filter and you may end up with a dusted engine.
Head to autozone and get yourself a scanguage 2. You'll be able to monitor the usual critical 6.0 parameters.
FICM Main Power
FICM Voltage
FICM Logic voltage
EOT- Engine Oil Temp
ECT-Engine Coolant Temp
ICP
IPR
VGT duty cycle
There are a few others, but these are things you keep an eye on to catch any potential issues should they occur.
If when maintaining 65 mph there is a difference of 15 degrees or more between the EOT and ECT, you have a clogged Oil cooler and must have it replaced otherwise the engine will overhead and you'll have other issues.
Finally a few pics. Took these when I picked it up from when it was detailed. Someone already threw an egg at it and screwed the paint up on the passenger door
