No exhaust?

Hi Guys,
I replaced my turbos this weekend on my 2008 SD 6.4, that had lost a seal in the turbo and was blowing oil through the exhaust at a rate of oh, a quart a mile or so. Everything went as great as could be expected. Replacing the turbos is definitely a pain in the rear end. Anyway, I started the truck with only the down pipe connected, and all is good. I shut her down, let her cool off and connected the rest of the exhaust. I started the truck and new immediately something was wrong because of the wooshcoming from under the hood. There was absolutely nothing coming out of the tail pipe. After dropping $2000 on the turbos, I don't have the cash to do a DPF delete and program the truck. Do I have any other options? Can the oil be cleaned out of the DPF, CAT and muffler?

I only know of one method myself to do it and they do it is by baking it off in a high heat oven sort of way and it turns it all to soot and gets cleaned out that way, but I have heard that isn't exactly cheap.

I don't know of another method, but surely some of the clever souls amongst us may have some ideas as I am sure your not the only person who has had this issue

I have heard of a couple taking the dpf off and hosing it down and getting a bunch of stuff out of it.

Had good results.

I'd be inclined to give it a shot.

Did you raise the cab some to get at the turbos? or just removed them in place?

That is what I will try. good old high pressure and dawn detergent. That is how I cleaned the Inter cooler. I will try this tonight if I can, I am pretty sore from the turbo work. I never knew My body could get in so many positions.
I had to raise the cab. Otherwise it is impossible to get the bolts out of the back of the turbo that hold the up pipes on. I took a floor jack and raised it up and slid a 2x4 where the body bolts go. That gave me just enough clearance to reach over the pipes while laying across the top of the engine with a ratchet.
It was definitely not an easy job. I started at 9:00 Saturday morning, worked till 8:00 that night. Started at 11:00 Sunday morning and fired it up at 8:00 Sunday night.
I did round of the head on one of the bolts, but fortunately I was able to get in there with a Dremmel and a cut off wheel.

Just imagine doing all that work and getting paid 7.4 hours for it.

22 hours just to replace the turbos? I would gladly do it for that! Warranty pays about 7.4 hours to remove the body and replace both turbos.

Hmmm, I guess my dealer was really trying to stick it to me. I'm glad I did it myself now.
