My Pinging issue Resolved..I Hope...
Hi guys, Ive had a Horrible Pinging problem for a while now.. it all started When I Threw 2 rods out on the way home from glamis Last Thanksgiving..
2000 Excursion limited 4X4 6" lift on 35's
I bought a Motor out of a 2002 F250 Put it in and it has Been Pinging ever sense. It Pings under its own load and Really Really bad when im towing my 26' hauler loaded weighs about 12k, Ive Tried all the fixes,filters ect... On this last trip I decided to try 91 octane and a Bottle of 104 boost and Viola...Pinging Gone!!!..Climed up The canyon pass with ease and never pinged a bit! Ran that tank empty and replaced it with cheapo 87 The Pinging Immeadetly returned, That pointed me Toward the Knock sensor I pulled the Manifold today and Replaced It.. What a Crappy job...lol While I was at it i replaced the Plugs.. Having the manifold off made it easy... Went for a test drive and Tried everything I could to make it ping and could not get it to... So its gone for now and I can fill up at Arco again..We will see in 2 weeks when we head out camping again and hopefully it stays gone while towing...
