2003 f250 crewcab 6.0 auto 4x4. I all of a sudden started feeling a vibration under the truck near the back when I accelerate and when I let off the gas no other time. No noises or clanking just vibration. I can wiggle the driveshaft inside the carrier bearing do you think that could be it or is it the rearend
I have the same issue and symptoms with my '06, except a get a slight "hum" under excel and decel from 30 mpg and below. my carrier bearing has some play in it, havent checked the rear pinion yet.
Ok had rearend checked and all Ujoints checked had transmission checked everything looks good. I'm not sure if they checked the slip yoke. I still have vibration. When I let of gas and hit gas. I have a 6 to 8 inch suspension lift with 37 inch tires do you think I need a drop bracket on the carrier bearing bracket? It has the factory bracket and I think the driveshaft is at a bad angle could this put it in a bind and cause the vibration? Or would it do it all the time if that was the case and not just when I get on the gas or let off the gas.

Yes, I would invest in some Carrier Bearing Shims. That will probably solve your problem, I'd still double check the carrier bearing that way you dont have to take it down twice.
Start simple. Your description of the problems open to interpretation. Troubleshooting on the net is tricky due to the human factor. For $10 and some of your time you should grease the slip yoke. You may have two if the truck has a carrier? Do a search on it here under my name as its been discussed at length here. You need specific Ford grease $8-10/tube and yes you can reuse the Oetiker clamp if you are gentle removing it. Only need to remove one side. The boot kit with new clamps is $50-60 for a lousy boot and a 2 clamps! Oetiker wont sell size 56 in quantities under 100 (bag of 100 is about 50). Some have used thick HD zip ties but I dont like zip ties there. Oh and if you do drop the drive shaft(s) be sure the wheels are chocked!
hi wolfboy here im a driveline tech 20 yrs ok what you need to do is first chock thwe wheels put the truck in neutral that way thers no load on driveline then wigle the yolks up and down side to side and twist back and forth if thers any play replace the ujoint look at the seals on the caps if cracked tha cap is probly bad look for dents, missing weights, also check the slip yolk on the rear section wigle it up down twist if play go to driveline shop if in phoenix go to mine i usaly cet rid of 2 peice and put 1 peice in thats for normal driving light duty 4x4 no rock crawling
