What is the consensus concerning the GForce Chip that is advertised at the top of the page. I have a 2000 Exp. 4.6 V8 and I am not getting as good fuel mileage as some guys are claiming for that engine. It's completely stock and runs very well, I am just hoping to improve the gas mileage to better than 10.5 MPG. Thanks for any input.
The ads vary based on recent searchs. I've never seen chips help with anything. Im on the same low mpg bus as you. I've been looking at tuners, but cant get to much feed back from anyone
I've heard they don't work but I never tried it my self
I have a 01 navigator and have been messing around with a Superchip...I wasn't able to get a better mileage either but I ended up using the 87 octane tuning so I can use regular instead of premium....so not a total lost I guess.

Interesting.........my '02 Navigator seems to run just fine on 87 octane with out one of those chip things.
Whaat?? It didn't knock? I put 87 when I first bought it and it was knocking ...at first I thought "oh crap, how could I missed that flaw" turned out I need premium gas...but thats interesting.
The Intech has dual knock sensors - one on each cylinder bank. It should be able to tweek the timing before you ever hear it knock?
You might want to put a good scan tool on it to see if you have any pending codes.
What temp does your coolant temp run at?
Oooh..well the temp gauge shows slightly below the middle mark ... I am not getting any codes at thir point...would places like autozones (auto parts store) have scanner that's good enough to find the pending codes?
So gents, I guess the bottom line is this chip is not worth the money. Is there another way to get even a mile or two improvement without spending big bucks? I don't drive hard(mostly), seldom above 25-2700 RPM. Any ideas are appreciated.

Easy on the throttle is a BIG help.
(especially when the engine is cold - the 4R100 won't shift into 4th until there is 125* (?) in the engine coolant.)
4-wheel thrust alignment (to make sure all four wheels are pointing in the same place - by a shop that has a good reputation).
Add a couple of extra pounds of air in the tires.
Be sure the caliper sliders are free (and only use a silicone lube - never a petrolium based grease on the slider bushings!)
Be sure the emergency brakes are not dragging.
Keep the rear heater off as much as possible when the engine is cold - it can increase the time it takes the engine to come up to temp by as much as 50%).
Thanks for all the responses. I won't spend the bucks on this chip, I'll just live with the MPG I get stock. PDQford thanks for the list, it will help.
my 98 expedition 5.4 only gets 13.2 at best so I purchased one of the 69 dollar chips for my motor. What happened was mileage went to 10.5 and tailpipe was coated with soot
