Question Adding a tachometer to a 1992 E-250

I have a 1992 E-250 with the 5.8L, is there a factory installed tachometer signal lead wire / plug, that I could just tap into?

I was told to look for a Tan wire with a yellow stripe coming off of the coil, I found that but there are 2 wires (tan with yellow stripe) coming off the coil, will it matter which one I splice into?

Any helpful suggestions / replies would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike P.

Yes,the harnesses they usually install have the option link in them for Plug & Play.

Mil1ion,

So where might this factory "plug in" be located? (i/e: how do I find it, identify it)

A Ford dealer had told me that I would need to "Splice" into the tan wire with yellow stripe coming off the coil. (Not sure if this is true) which lead to the 2nd part of my question.....there are 2 tan wires with yellow stripe.....does it matter which one I tap into....if I indeed need to "Splice" into one of these?

The Tan/Yel wire should already be in one of the cluster connectors in your dash, so that's where you should tie into it.
