hello, ranger people ... an ad caught my eye on craigslist ... thinking of going to check it out s8kjt-4168097878@sale.craigslist.org ... hope this link works (computard).
dont know what year it is or what the mileage is but i have been on the lookout for something that can carry me and the 2 grandkids around. i have a single cab f250 but it's just too cramped with 3 people and all their gear in there.
anyways ... i am totally new to rangers ... what should i look out for in this generation of ford ranger ?
edit : looks like it's a 1990 model. also, after i plugged his phone number in the search area i see that he has 2 other vehicles for sale; always a big turn-off for me. even so, i would like to know the story on rangers of this era.
The Super Cab Ranger is OK for two up front, but much worse than an F250 for 3 sitting up front. That would depend on the seats also. The rear seats are terrible. They are a fold down pad and you sit sideways with no headrest or shoulder belt.
I had 5 adults in my '86 SC Ranger. It was a little stuffy, even with the AC defrost on full the windows fogged.....
Crew cab or a car/suv would be my suggestion.
An OHV V6 or 5.0 V8 Explorer up to '01 would be something to consider imo.
sorry ... lack of computer knowledge shows there ... it's not a link but if you copy and paste it into the search engine the ad will come up.
anyways, thats the kind of info i am looking for garth. also, does the 4.0 engine use a timing belt or chain ? how are the trannys (automatic) and engines for durability ?
i would normally have myself, and 2 boys aged 7 and 13 in it. on the rare occasions that i would have another adult in it, she/he would take the front seat with the boys in the back, so i think a ranger s/c would work just fine for what i want it for. am also keeping my eyes open for a s/c f-series as well.
