It would be nice if it could give you some specifics of your oil condition like an actual oil analysis. If there is contamination in the oil, what is it? How much the oil has sheared down? etc.

x2 on that Tom.

Also... where do you draw your oil from? And right after it was up to operating temp i'd assume.

looks like you just pull the dipstick and dip a few drops of oil on the sensor Alex.

Yeah I saw the video. I guess I was just thinking the dipstick draws from the top of the pan and if you drained a bit it would possibly read worse because particulates falling to the bottom of the pan. IDK just my mind wandering.

Or maybe you should pull from the HPOP reservoir because we all know its the dirtiest and never gets changed!

Looks like it checks for "the presence of water, coolant, carbon and metal particulates that may be present in the oil". Would be interesting to have one and do a comparison with an oil analysis company to see if they match up on when to change the oil. I know our trucks are sensitive to oil breakdown, but it would be nice to be able to get our moneys worth out of the 4 gallons we put in each time.

Buy one of these and send in some oil analysis to see how close the unit agrees with the oil analysis on when to change the oil. Even if it wont give all the info the analysis does, if we could safely increase the run time on the oil, it would be worth it.
