2007 Sport Trac traction control problems
Hey guys I have a 07 sport trac that has 80k miles on it. It recently started doing something weird. When I am accelerating hard it will sometimes clunk like it is going into 4 wheel drive and the power drops to nothing and the traction control light flashes on the dash. If I let off the gas the light goes off and my power comes right back. The power dump is harsh if accelerating. sometimes I will barely be accelerating and if the road wet it does the same thing. I have no brake issues at all and the truck runs great. It will sometimes also feel like a slight slip or bumping feeling if I am barely touching the throttle at higher speeds and the transmission is in 6th gear. If I give it a slight bit more gas it downshifts smoothly and the slipping feel goes away. It never does it on cruise so I am thinking it may be more electrical than mechanical because the computer just tells it to downshift when it needs unlike when I slightly give it gas. Any help would be great.
It has a 4.6 with a K&N cold air intake system and a Magna Flow exhaust system.
