I bought a pre-bled system from O'reillys for a little over $200. I was surprised with the quality.

The stock master/slave is plastic. These were metal.

Took me about 15 minutes to install.

so i changed the slave cylinder and the line going to the master cylinder.
i can drive the truck now but im having a hard time going through the low gears 1 and 2
3,4,5 no problem.
from a dead start i have to really play with it to get it in gear.
2nd a little easier and so on.
is this do to not bleeding the system enough?
thanks

Yep, sounds like you still have some air in it and it's not fully disengaging the clutch.

once the truck is moving, the synchros are helping you getting it into the higher gears.

the same thing would work at lower speeds, but you'd have to match the engine speed to the rear end speed very closely - which obviously isn't possible in first gear, unless the engine is off :-)

These are suppose to self-bleed, but Ive never had any luck with it.

Pump with your left foot till it gets tied and then use your right. repeat x3

Take the cap off the master cylinder and lay it to the side. Then go under the truck and remove the slave from the trans and very slowly push the rod in on the slave several times. This will push all the air bubbles back up and out the master. Re-install the slave and top off the master with fluid if needed and see if it's any better.

i assume that taking the slave off allows you to push the rod further in.
apposed to just pushing the clutch pedal. correct?

When you depress the pedal the rod on the slave is pushed out. You need to remove the slave from the side of the trans and push that rod in slowly. You are pushing the air backwards through the system. Opposite of when you push the pedal.
