At 60,000 I switched to the blend which is part synthetic (10-20% I think). I have heard full synthetic may leak on an older engine. Not sure it helps, but theoretically the synthetic should lubricate better. Still, my '84 F150 has 185,000 miles and runs great. It never had synthetic or blend, but did have Rislone every oil change.

Lots of discussion on this subject in the lubrication forum. Check out that ares of this site. As for my trucks, all use dino oil changed at regular intervals and my f-150 is turning over 160K miles and still going strong.
