'77 F250 400 Headers

Hey guys I'm looking to re-do the exhaust on my '77 F250 351M 400 and need some opinions. I'm up in the air on headers. Coated or painted? She's my daily driver but I also would like to take her out trail riding. I also didn't know if eliminating the mufflers and going down a tube size would be wise? I don't romp on her but still don't know if not having the mufflers would create any back pressure issues....
Thanks for your imput guys! I'm totally out of my realm when it comes to exhaust.

Highboy or lowboy?

If lowboy your header options are far greater...

If highboy they're far more limited (as in virtually non-existent)

I believe it is a lowboy. And I have shopped around at headers there are just so many options ex: coated, uncoated, painted, SS. I'm just not sure which would be best for my truck

I'd start by asking yourself how much you're willing to spend...

Pricing runs the gamut from sub $200 budget headers to $1,000 plus custom headers.

I believe if you buy cheap headers, you'll get cheap returns. I'd rather cry at the price tag once than have to buy headers every couple of years. So that would eliminate anything uncoated or painted or with less than a 3/8" flange for me.
