Hi guys I'm new to the forum. I'm looking at buying a new truck and just need some info if you guys could help me out. So it's an 86 ford f-250. Originally had the 6.9L idi engine. The guy told me that when he bought it the original owner before him did an engine swap to a 7.3. From the pics it looks like a 7.3 idi with a aftermarket turbo kit. Anyways I'll try to get some pics on here but my question is can anyone help me identify what trans is in it? It needs a new clutch an bell housing so I'd like to find some parts before purchasing the truck..these are the numbers that the guy sent me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.. Bell housing # ADD-1

I can't access your pics, but 13-09 is part of the casting # for a Borg Warner T19 transmission, which was common behind the diesel engines.
There were three Ford versions (plus 4wd), the difference was just in the ratios - diesels were usually the 4.02:1 ratio 1st gear.
All three had an 1 1/16", 10 spline input shaft.
The 7.3 kits appear to be a totally different clutch (1 1/4" input shaft, so probably the dual mass flywheel/clutch & ZF5 transmission).......you might need to investigate the conversion a bit more.
Ken is our resident tranny expert, having tried all the options in his truck. So I'm sure he is right. And it isn't a ZF as they have an integral bell housing.
Ok so is it impossible that there is a Borg t-19 tranny behind the 7.3 ? I just need to know what bell housing. Will the original t-19 bell bolt on to the engine block just a it would the 6.9? And I need to go with the 6.9 clutch because the tranny IP shaft is different size right?
Okay so if I get a Borg t-19 bell and a 6.9 clutch I should be good.. Now the only thing is I don't want to give too much for it and the truck not run. It's almost worth finding a bell housing and takin it with me so I can start it and see it run. I had some pics of it in my album. Wasn't sure how to load them into the forum
All manual trans have the same bolt pattern to the bell right? But what about the bell to the engine? Would the 6.9 and the 7.3 bolt up to the same bell? Sorry for so manny questions but thank you all for you time and very useful information
4 speeds were still available in 1987.
I own(ed) one.
You want a hydraulic bell for a diesel engine with a Borg Warner T-18 or T-19.
Earlier trucks (pre '83) had a mechanical clutch.
They won't work for you.
