Something is wrong with this picture. It shows 469 mte and a full tank of fuel. Based on a 26 gallon tank that would be only 18mpg. On a 37.5 gallon tank that would be even lower at 12mpg. Also the speedo is above 70mph and turbo boost is almost zero which means the truck is coasting.

Not to mention that for 24 of the prior 30 minutes, the truck is showing 30+ mpg with the other 6 minutes at somewhere around 28 mpg. That is a tough one to pull off. Somebody needs to share their secret! I have been able to get one bar at 30 mpg, but eventually you will have to go uphill!

His truck is a short bed so only a 26 gal tank. Your 18 mpg calculation would be correct except for the truck has obviously been traveling for more than 30 minutes already based on the mpg history shown.

no, that mpg history chart is as it says, the 'last 10 min'. That is the entire chart. (10 mins), each bar represents 2 minutes. This is the setting mine is on, and every 2 mins it updates.

so the truck in question has been traveling for at least 10 minutes. but its still gotta be all downhill to get a graph like that.

else the computer is confused. on my 08, the computer was confused after I did the Spartan.
the fuel usage was calculated on the throttle pedal position, not actual fuel used, cause it was a return style fuel rail. with the tuner, you didn't need to press on the pedal as much to get the same speed.

I think the real kicker is the mte and the fuel gauge. It looks like the truck was in route and just topped off and maybe used a gallon (a quarter tank being 6.5 gallons of 26 gallon capacity tank). So... something still doesn't add up.

Thanks Sam! I didn't pay attention to the last 10 min in the picture. I guess I just assumed that it was 30 min since that is what I use. Sorry to confuse the issue, but the logic is still fairly sound just over a shorter period of time.

Anybody with the H&S tuner, can u confirm your dash MPG usage estimate STILL matches your hand calculated AFTER tuning.

For me, it's pretty darn close. Within .2-.4 mpg which I attribute to my errors in fueling. I drive pretty hard (a lot of WOT) and not very fuel efficiently. I also am lifted and have heavy wheels (20" heavy wheels) and 35" MT tires. I don't expect to get anywhere near the mileage that 2ndstoke gets. I can get 19-20 easily going 65 miles per hour unloaded. So his numbers aren't impossible with his truck running stock wheels and tires in an unlifted truck driving responsibly. Driving in town and beating on it I get 16-17 all the time.

As a note... it appears that the tank gage is slightly below full. In my truck the gage will read past full after a fill up for approximately 50 miles before reading full. If I were to match the photo in my truck I'd have to drive approximately 75 and maybe even a 100 miles.

BTW I get between 20 and 22 on the highway empty. Usually right at 21mpg, running I35 between Waco and Dallas or Waco and San Antonio.

Again, I said I took that pic on the highway heading back to my home, which the speed limit is lower after coming off the main highway, which speed liming is much higher. That pic is about 45 mins after I filled up on the trans canada, oya my truck is Canadian, so that's km/hr on the dash your seeing, not mph.

Like I said in previous threads, I was playing with the setting on my mini maxx to get that extra mpg that trip home, I never seen the mte adjust that quickly myself, you must have a smarter truck then mine if yours adjusts that quickly, also I would get your truck looked at if your making huge boost at 60 mph. I will give you props as well, if you can take a pic without having to coast for a few seconds on the highway

MPG

I have a 2011 F-250 6.7 3.55 Ratio. I pull a 36' RV a lot of the time. When not pulling the RV on a good day in the best driving conditions I can average 13.4 to 14.2 no mater what! When pulling the RV I only pull it in Tow Haul on Hwy I drive 60 MPH. The RV weighs loaded 12,300 Lbs. I averaged over a 6000 mile trip 5.8 MPG.I love the truck but wouldn't consider this type of mileage anywhere close to good, with or without a load.

I think you have a problem.

when was the last time your fuel filters were changed?

my 2012 f250 (3.31 gear) was getting 15.2 average over 13000 miles and climbing (as long as I didn't tow). on the highway I could get >18 if I stayed under 75mph. towing my 7,000 flat front enclosed car hauler was 10.8.

my new (to me) 2012 dually (3.73 rear), was getting 9.5 towing my 12,500lb FW at 65-70 (g rated 75mph tires), and 15.8 not towing at 70-75mph.

I did notice lately the MPG seemed lower 14ish, and I replaced the fuel filter. the next week I had to drive to Oklahoma city and back, uhaul up, empty back. got 14.6 up (60-65), and was over 17 back (70-75)

maybe your def tank is having trouble too.. seems a bunhc of 2011 users early on complained of low mileage when the def tank didn't work properly.
when was the last time you filled the DEF tank?

My mte readjusts after refueling based on the last avg mpg. When I'm coasting or light. throttle I can keep the boost that low or when trying to get better fuel mpg. When trying to save fuel, if my boost goes up, my fuel mpg drop.

Btw, I am a diesel mechanic with 38yrs experience, primarily on big trucks with a dash of heavy equipment thrown in for good measure.

Exactly, so if I'm traveling on 110km on a highway and refuel, then hit my 80km highway home, what's going to happen exactly??

Your dash gauge says mi. to empty not km to empty. So the math still doesn't add up.
