A girl at work has a 97? Explorer. The 4x4 & Low Range lights flash on and off. It won't go into Low Range, but it feels like part of the 4x4 is working (front hubs), but there is no clicking from the relays. Any Ideas?
Thanks, Jimmy
Do a search on here for similar problems. I think you'll find a few hundred posts almost the same
Usually the problem is in the shift motor on the transfer case.
I've looked around, but I really haven't seen anything pertaining to this. Most are about the OD OFF light flashing. I'll keep looking though.
Dave, will a OBDII scanner( like a Sun-Pro that give the code and what it means ) Also read tranny and abs codes? Does all of this run thru the main ECM now? I'd really like to have a SnapOn scanner, but I don't have $3K to spend on one.
Thanks, Jimmy
If you cant find anything in the Exploder forum try looking in the Ranger forum too. I'm sure you'll find something somewhere on here
I'm not sure how most scanners work other than the WDS and NGS that I use at work. Transmission codes come from the PCM. ABS codes come from the ABS module. Other modules talk on the same networks too such as GEM, FEM, REM, ICP etc.
I have read about DiagTek scanner adapters for using with a Palm Pilot and they sound really good. Check out http://www.diagtek.com/index.shtml
