Noticed my pinion seal is leaking a little. Just pulled off the 1 5/16th nut and washer under it. Can't seem to get the pinion (or is it called the yoke) to pull off. I thought I'd be able replace that seal without removing the ring or carrier. Am I missing something?
I have never done one HillBilly so maybe I am speaking out of turn. I am assuming it is a "friction Fit" to make it tight so as to make sure the driveshaft doesn't make it wobble. I would try pulling it with a vibration damper puller. These usually have both a 3 bolt pattern and the two bolt pattern you could use.
Put the new seal on and tightened up the nut. Used my impact wrench to get it on there. The yoke/pinion was so tight that I could barely turn it by hand. Oops. Backed the nut off a little bit but the yoke/pinion still seems tighter to turn then I think it should feel (although I can turn it by hand now)
Also, I got one of the axles back in but when I spin the yoke, it does not turn the axle....

What did I mess up?
Put the other axle in. I'd bet you turning the yoke is turning the other side than the axle you have in. You must not have a posi rear end.
