Thanks for all the help Alloro. I have the coil on order. No Ford dealers or parts houses in the area stock this item. Will I be able to install it with out a special tool?

It should press on by hand. Just use caution and try to press evenly, you don't want to distort it.

The old coil is not sliding off easily. I have tried to pry it off and tap all the way around it. I'm going to try to get a puller in there. I can see another big snap ring in there. That doesn't need to come off also does it?

Try it, I don't remember there being one, but my memory seems to be less perfect the older I get.

I found a green drop of fluid when trying to get the coil off. This probably means I need to replace the whole compressor since a seal is leaking? This has turned into my most frustrating project yet.

Green is anti-freeze, you sure there isn't a leak above the compressor?

My antifreeze is orange. I have read that the green fluid is the compressor oil mixed with dye.

You've reached the point where a new compressor is called for now that you have new information. No use trying to fix this one if the main shaft seal is leaking as you'll just end up replacing it anyway due to leaking refrigerant.

Although that is a possibility, most A/C dyes are red, not green.

Hmm, you must use different stuff than me. The UV dye I use is clear but turns green only when exposed to the UV light.
