I have an 85 F-150,302fi i'm having trouble with the truck when it warms up, it seems like it's running out of gas, bucking like crazy it will idle fine and i can rev it as much as i want, but as soon as i go to give it gas it starts bucking! Here's what i have replaced, front fuel pump, frame fuel pump, fuel filter, coil, mag. pick up,engine ing. module, thottle postion sensor, getting ready to put the coolant senor in later, also when a friend of mine put a computer on it,it said low voltage to the TPS,what would cause this! Sorry about the long post!
You need to hang around your friend who must have the code reader. The computer monitors it's systems, and when it sees a problem, it gives an error code. If it is still giving an error code for the throttle position sensor, even after you replaced the sensor, you might have a wiring problem.
Oh gawd no don't say a wiring problem,i had that trouble on a 79 sandbox editon once, the local ford dealership had to have a tech come in from the factory to find it, 1500.00 dollars later for two wires!
Sorry man i'm an idiot when it comes to this stuff! Paper clip man i have no idea what you are talkin bout! I'll never get the hang of this stuff! I don't even know where to start!
Well put the coolant sensor in no help at all! The truck is still bucking when it warms up,think i'm gonna take it to a garage i'm gettin burned out on it!!!
Man clicked on the link, and i just don't understand it! This is all new to me,now i had a little k-car and on them you could turn the key off and on 3 times and it would flash the codes! But this is beyond me.What do i need to plug something in to show the codes, i don't know what all that dtc and pcm....etc means.
Keep in mind that if you ever do learn all this stuff, some MANY sensors will not even show a trouble code. But it may also help narrow it down 50/50 chance. Good-Luck
When my truck was acting like this (flooding down like?) it was the heat sen. It took me about 3 times taking it back for a new one til i found one that was good. Just because you bought a new on dont mean it'll work. be sure to unhook your while doing it, So the computer will clear it's codes.
Thanks man i'm gonna give it a try! I never did unhook the battery,i'll do it though! Also when we had the distributor out, good thing i did take it out it was ready to lock up,the shaft was all rusted! I got it out of time and i need to set the timing,is there anything i need to unhook,it's not much out of time because it runs good(for as long as it runs)! Thanks again for the help, i've learned alot so far off of this board already!
