Ranger fan

On my 01' 3.0 single cab 5-spd Edge it makes an odd noise when I start it. When it turns over and starts running it sounds like my engine fan is blowing VERY hard... and then after about 5-10 seconds it calms down and I can hear my engine normally again. This is strange to me because before this truck I owned a truck that was exactly the same (I mean EXACTLY, same year, color, ect ect) but an automatic, and it didnt have this noise when I started it. It's just a little strange to me... if any could give any helpful info, thanks.

It sounds normal to me. The oil in the fan clutch is moving out from where it collects when stopped. The fans probably vary from one brand to another.

I experience the same thing with my 03' 2.3 Ranger. I have
manual trans. as well. The RPM's do not exceed 1300 at start and drop to 1000 within a couple seconds as well. seems normal?

Normal. Mine does the same. The clutch is engaged fully when "cold" so when you start it, it spins with the motor. As it warms, slips, warms, slips some more... etc... it begins to disengage slightly. You end up with a slower turning fan than initially.
