ive got a 97 f-150 with the 4.2l v6 when i got it it was running ruff.. i took it to a shop and they cleaned the EGR for me it ran right for about 2 weeks and then it started acting up again check engine light came on so i took it and had the computer test ran on it.. it says its skiping on cyl 3.. ive done a complete tune up. plugs,plug wires, changed the oil oil filter , fuel filter , air filter.. i even changed the IAC valve and coil pack.. still no fix.. it idles really bad and u can feel it skipping if you run it in 2nd at high rpms it wont skip and runs fine.. when your at low rpms it starts doing it bad.. someone please help me.. im really getting sick of putting money into it.
Hows the coolant level look? Was the front timing cover gasket changed under the recall? Have the lower intake gaskets been changed?Check this website out www.leakingfords.com

I have checked the coil's (new and old) both are good.Checked plug and plug wire on cyl 3 and everything is up to snuff.Only thing I can figure now is injector gone bad? What do you think?
Same here!My next move was going to be injector cleaning and then o2 sensors.Another post for an l6 said the o2 worked for him .Damn I wish I had $10,000 to spend on test equipment
