Picked up a little truck today. She needs a little work but wanted to see what you guys think. Keep in mind the is upstate NY and the salt is horrible.
Its going to need shocks and brake lines in the near future.
I checked the axle code and it reads 19 so I am assuming its open diff 3.55 gears. Up here in the winter I could really use LSD. Any advice on sourcing a LSD rear end? Maybe upgrade to disc brakes?
Here is what it has
New rotors up front
New brake pads
New drums on rear
New clutch and pressure plate
New brake lines up front
New Shocks up front
New muffler back exhaust
New manifolds
New O2 sensors on drivers side
Here is what it needs
TUNE UP!!!
Shocks in rear are pretty rusty. As in more rust then shock
Rear brake lines are also coated in rust
Power steering is not working. I think the pump is toast
And the big one.
Horrible exhaust leak. It looks like he used red RTV when replacing the manifolds. There is a gasket in there two but its a pretty bad leak and I think its kicking the check engine light.
Get the safety issues fixed first, everything else can wait until next spring, unless you have a heated garage. Nice looking truck. does need some tlc. Good luck with it.
I should also note that I paid $900 for the truck. Think it was worth it?
In my area any truck that runs and drives is at least a grand ! A few s10's and rangers for less , but beat to heck ! Any full size will set you back at least 750 to 1000 . More if in good shape . People around here either use them for work , or drink too much , and beat them up . Any "nice " truck is too high priced fore my taste !
