Question Torsion Bars

I have a 1998 F-150Ext. Cab 4x4 w/4.6L and a 5spd. I'm replacing the slave cylinder and am having problems removing the torsion bar from the lower control arm. Does anyone have any tips. It's greatly appreciated in advance.

Torsion Bars

There is a tool to unload the adjusting screw so that the threaded block can be removed. Then you let the lever down til you can remove the torsion bar. the bar has to be driven forward to release the lever then remove the crossmember. The bar can be left hanging in the control arm or remove it to the rear. Don't mix up the torsion bars right and left are different. I always put them back exactly in the same position they are removed. If you let the bar hang in the control arm don't let the truck down and move it on the wheels, the torsion bar may damage the cv boots.

Torsion Bars

I should have been more specific. I already have the thread blocks removed (used a 2 jaw puller). The problem is that the bars are rusted in the lower control arm. I've used PB lube to try and free them up and then beat on them using a wrecking bar and 3# sledge (I tried a smaller hammer and punch first of course). I'm now thinking of just removing the lower control arm but I'm not even sure that will work. I almost used a torch to heat the control arm but don't think that would be good on the spring steel of the torsion bar. I appreciate the advice, let me know what you think.
